The “Festival Acadien de Charlottetown” was created in 2001. With the exception of the year 2005 and 2006, the festival was active since the year of it’s creation. In the fall of 2006, a group of volunteer including some peoples that was involved in the previous festivals, held a meeting to discuss the future of the festival. In 2007, Mr. Marc LeBlanc, a NB consultant in cultural tourism did a study to evaluate the first 3 years of the festival and put down a plan and a vision for a new product. The results of that study were published in February 2007. Following the recommendations, a new administrative counsel was formed to create an annual festival under the name of “Les francofolies de Charlottetown”. Three years later, Les Franco take a one-year-break in 2010 for a fresh start in 2011!
